The Role
We are seeking a
technically strong Senior Software
Engineer to support a client engagement
with a leading global payments
technology company. The client's team
builds industry-leading software that
empowers business users around the
world to make data-driven decisions
through advanced analytics and
experimentation, and is reimagining how
it delivers scalable, cloud-native
solutions. This role is based in
Dublin, Ireland, with a hybrid working
arrangement.
In this role, you will
help define and evolve system
architecture and non-functional
requirements, including scalability,
performance, security, and reliability.
You will work closely with
cross-functional teams to drive complex
technical solutions, lead team-level
design, and deliver scalable services,
APIs, and analytics-driven capabilities
using technologies such as Java,
Databricks, cloud platforms, and modern
data technologies. The team is small,
agile, and empowered to choose the
processes that work best for its goals,
with every engineer contributing across
the full development lifecycle, from
ideation and design through
implementation and testing.
What You'll Do

Lead team-level
system design, including high-level
design, detailed design, API contracts,
data flows, service interactions,
integration patterns, and nonfunctional
requirements such as scalability,
reliability, performance, security, and
- operability

Partner with lead
engineers and architects to align
team-level implementations with broader
platform architecture, modernisation
goals, engineering standards, and
- long-term maintainability

Develop and
optimise data-intensive applications
and analytics capabilities using
Databricks, Spark, and related
technologies to process and deliver
- data at scale

Serve as a hands-on
technical contributor, designing,
coding, testing, debugging, and
delivering production-quality software
- across the full engineering lifecycle

Identify and resolve performance
bottlenecks across services, APIs, data
processing workloads, and user
- experiences

Collaborate with
cross-functional teams to translate
business requirements into scalable
- technical solutions

Mentor junior and
mid-level engineers through technical
guidance, pairing, code reviews,

Requirements
Requirements
- Mandatory: Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, Microservices, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes
- 6+ years of software engineering experience building scalable, distributed systems and cloud-native applications in an agile environment
- Exposure to TypeScript/React, SQL, and Databricks/Spark/PySpark for data pipelines is a plus
- Proven ability to lead team-level design, evaluate technical trade-offs, and translate business needs into secure, maintainable solutions
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, comfortable working through ambiguity
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
